Something that seems prevalent in endurance sports is sometimes called the "magic" workout or the shortcut to quicker gains "This workout will make you faster" you'll all have seen it and most will have clicked or even done them in your time.
The unfortunate truth of all of this is there is not one workout that will do this. There are some that are better than others. There are some that are better suited to individuals than others. But, there isn't going to be a magic button to this. I'm often very up front with my clients when it comes to this. There is no replacement for consistency.
A prime example of this can be seen in Olympic athletes. They will follow micro and macro cycles like most others but in a much grander scale they follow "Olympic Cycles" and look at 4 years as a period of training. They don't go looking for magic, the magic is found in consistency.
With that in mind it's something we are very aware of and focus on here at Domestique Coaching. The enjoyment must be there. It won't always be there, that would be foolish to think. But we look for it, when it deserts us we ensure consistency is kept through discipline and knowing that motivation will come around again.
